“Giving thanks for food and fellowship”

Dear friends of Pandy Farm,

Summer is here - a time to celebrate the astounding abundance of Nature. For all the beans, blueberries, tomatoes, cucumbers, herbs, potatoes, lettuce and more - we give thanks!

This is a transition year for us on the farm and we are deeply grateful for the hard work of everyone on the team - especially Jo, our Market Garden Co-ordinator, who has worked tirelessly to fill our garden beds with beautiful food. Thank you, Jo!

Harvest Hampers are now weekly!

If you would like to receive updates about our weekly harvest hamper (aka veg box) feel free to join our WhatsApp Group or contact us to add your email address.

Once you’ve joined you’ll receive a list of what’s in the hamper every Friday. We ask that orders are in by Sunday night. Hampers are then ready to collect from the farm anytime after 3pm on Monday.

This is a great way to eat locally produced food and to support the farm while we renovate our farm shop. The cost is approximately £12 per week, depending on produce availability. If you have a large household you have the option to double your order.

A weekly volunteer opportunity - starting this coming Wednesday.. would you like to get involved?

For those of you who are keen to join our team and volunteer in exchange for fresh veg each week, there is now a regular community volunteer day every Wednesday afternoon from 2.30pm ‘till 5.30pm (weather dependent) starting from next Wednesday the 31st July.

Volunteering is a great way to learn about local food production, to meet like-minded people and to help develop local food security in our area. It is also fun - and we have a diversity of activities that suit all ages and abilities.

It’s time to Pick Your Own Blueberries at Pandy Farm!

Down at the Pandy Farm soft fruit patch our blueberry bushes are dripping with ripe, juicy fruits so come along to fill your containers (and your tummies) with delicious, healthy berries.

This is a great activity for kids so please pass on the word to your friends and family. As an organisation that does not use social media we rely on word of mouth - so please help to spread the word!

As you probably know, blueberries are packed with potent anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals and anthocyanins (the purple pigment in foods). Now’s the time to fill your freezers with berries for the year to come.

Pandy Price Match - 500g of organically grown berries costs just £6 - the same as Tescos! Tubs are provided at the soft fruits patch to measure quantities. You’ll find all the instructions there. Contact us if you have any questions.

Book Recommendation - Feeding Britain by Tim Lang

This book takes stock of the UK food system: where it comes from, what we eat, its impact, fragilities and strengths. It is a book on the politics of food.

After a brief frenzy of concern following the financial shock of 2008, the UK government has slumped once more into a vague hope that the food system will keep going on as before. Food, they said, just required a burst of agri-technology and more exports to pay for our massive imports.

Feeding Britain argues that this and other approaches are short-sighted, against the public interest, and possibly even strategic folly. Setting a new course for UK food is no easy task but it is a process that needs to begin now. This book explores how to do it.
